Original German WWI Complete M17 Steel Helmet
Up for sale is a superb example of an original German WWI M17 Steel combat helmet, complete with the original liner! These helmets are extremely difficult to find in a complete state – making this helmet very desirable. The leather pads show little signs of use and still retain their original white color! These white pads were typically issued during the late war period of WWI as leather was short – and these were made from goat skin. Thus we can infer that the helmet may have been produced around 1918. Although likely only used for 1 year, this helmet does show sings of use and likely was a bringback due to its condition. Also a very nice feature of this helmet is that the shell was completely painted after being issued to give the shell a more matted finish. Given its condition, it was very well taken care of.
