Original German WWI Named M17 Steel Turtle Camo Helmet
Up for sale is an original German WWI steel turtle camo helmet that was brought back during WWII. This WWI camo helmet was hand painted with nice autumn colors (Red, Green and Orange) with dark black boarders separating each color. An interesting aspect of the black separation is that it was painted by a small paint brush, where usually it a solider’s finger is used.
The shell shows a very nice patina on both the inside and out. The inside is fitted with a steel mid war liner band, where some areas of the original leather liner can be seen. If you also notice, two areas of the helmet were carved with a “Hitler” and a crudely drawn swastika. We are not sure when this was done, but likely during or right after WWII considering the similar patina. Lastly this helmet is also named to :ULRICH
The helmet is not marked :but likely ET 64
Dome Stamp : R 280
