Original German WWI Named M17 Steel Turtle Camo Helmet
Up for sale is an original German WWI steel turtle camo helmet that was brought back by a Canadian Soldier. This WWI camo helmet was hand painted with nice autumn colors (Red, Green and Orange) with dark black boarders separating each color. An interesting aspect of the black separation is that it was painted by the solider finger.
The shell shows a very nice patina on both the inside and out. The inside is fitted with a steel mid war liner band. Notice the dark areas of the liner band show where the sweat stained leather pads darkened the shell. The inside shell is also named, but unfortunately too faded to read.
The helmet is marked : ET 66
