Original German WWI Named M1916 Steel Turtle Camo Helmet
Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWI M1916 steel turtle camo helmet. This WWI camo helmet was hand painted with nice autumn colors (Red, Green and brown) with dark black boarders separating each color. An interesting aspect of the black separation is that it was painted with a solider’s finger.
The inside of the helmet is fitted with a complete M1916 style leather liner band and pads. The leather pads have began to crack from sweat damage, use and age. Interestingly the inside brim also was named. With age, it is very hard to read, though we could make out :
