Original German WWI Battle Damaged Turtle Camo Helmet
Up for sale is a very unique and original German WWI M16, or Model 1916 Steel combat helmet that has a little of everything! The shell is beautifully camouflaged with a desirable turtle camo. More so, this helmet shows some battle damage likely from shrapnel that entered through the front, and exited through the back. On the left facing side of the helmet, another area of battle damage is shown. This damage was likely caused by small arms.
Looking at the interior of the helmet, luckily the leather liner is complete and matching to the battle damage! This liner is the earlier M16 variation with a leather liner band. We can see portions of the original horse hair filling still shown from damage caused by the shrapnel. The inside brim of the helmet is also named. All in all this is a very desirable helmet, that would fit perfectly in any collection!
