Original German WWII Named Field Camo M35 DD Heer Helmet
Up for sale is an original German WWII M35 DD Heer helmet that has been overpainted with a dark green field coating. Traces of the original apple green shell can be noted throughout. Both decals were originally overpainted and have been liberated exposing both the eagle and national shield. Looking at the inside, the helmet liner is in great shape with very soft leather and the original draw string. The helmet liner is dated 1943. Unusually both the brim and dome of the helmet are both coated in the same paint as the outside shell. On the brim of the helmet is a name “John Crone”. We are unsure if this is a war time naming or post war – however due to the wear surrounding the name, and the paints bright colors, we think this was done post war, but still long ago. This helmet is a really great piece with some work done to it. For that reason we are pricing it for a fraction of the cost of a fully original DD heer overpainted helmet.
