German WWI M1917 Steel Camouflage Helmet

$2,650.00
Sold Out

Up for sale is one of the absolute nicest original German WWI camouflaged steel combat helmets that we have come across. This M17, or Model 1917 helmet featured 4 main colors, being green, brown, tan and yellow. Each color was carefully separated by a black line to break up any repeating patterns. Overall the paint scheme has truly stood the test of time, offering very vibrant and strong colors.

Looking towards the inside, the helmet is luckily complete with its original M1917 steel liner band, though missing its leather pads. Interestingly, a rope can be noted being fed through either vent lug. This was done to prevent high winds causing a whistling noise while being worn. Often these lugs were filled with mud, and therefore this rope is just another unique characteristic of this particular helmet. Overall a true top shelf helmet worthy of a museum display.

Manufacture : T.J. 68 (C. Thiel & Soehne, Luebeck)
