Original German WWII / WWI Transitional M18 DD Heer Helmet

$1,000.00
Sold Out

Up for sale is an incredible German WWI / WWII M18 DD Heer transitional combat veteran! This piece originally started life out as a German WWI helmet, and then re-issued to the German Wehrmacht in the mid 1930s. After its transition it was repainted with an early bright green paint which can be seen throughout both the exterior and interior under the applied camouflage. After its repaint it was applied with both a Heer Decal and National Shield. Subsequent to the helmets use in the pre-war Reich, it was then once more painted over with a darker Feld-grau color. Luckily the soldier painted around both decals and named the interior skirt. Its history does not stop here as towards the end of the war, the German issued this helmet scraped off his name before his surrender. An incredible piece of history that deserve a chance to be in your collection!

To note: A circular ring sits around the exterior dome of this helmet likely from being stacked with other helmets during or after the war. If only it could talk!
