Original German WWII DAK 1st Pattern Heer Pith Helmet
Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWII 1st Pattern Heer Pith helmet. The German pith helmet was first introduced into service in response to the Deutsches Afrikakorps, or DAK, entering into North Africa. These pith helmets were also later used in various tropical climates such as Italy, Greece and Southern Russian.
This particular helmet is a very well worn example which offers great character to the helmet. The sides of the helmet are fixed with two stamped alloy shields. A national eagle to the right side and the German national tri-color shield to the left side. The rear brim of the helmet is also darkened where the chinstrap once hung during use.
Looking towards the interior, the sweatband is complete and in great shape with the size marking 57.
