Original German WWII Kriegsmarine Ex-DD Helmet
Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWII M35 DD KM, or Kriegsmarine Helmet. This helmet has had a very interestingly life, starting with how we found it. This piece came straight from a dumpster. Yes you read correct, a dumpster. In Kentucky one of our pickers was searching the remains of a house clearance and saved this gem from being lost forever. Looking at the helmet, the shell is in really great shape with a very fine factory finish. The Kriegsmarine decal is a textbook example with layering on the eagle, a thick black border surrounding the eagle, flaking of the eagle, and of course a very rich gold color. At one time this was actually issued with a German National Shield, or Tri-color decal. As per regulation, it was removed sometime around 1940.
Looking towards the inside of the helmet, we can see that the liner, and liner band have been completely removed. Unfortunately we are unsure exactly why this occurred – although as all liner pins remain, this is a very easy fix. Most collectors prefer to show off the KM eagle anyways – making this helmet a steal at its price!
Batch Number : 4005
Manufacture : ET 60
