Original German WWII Heer M42 SD Helmet – Attic Find
Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWII M42 Heer helmet. This piece was found in a Connecticut attic, and subsequently looks the part! This helmet has a very natural and consistent patina all throughout the shell. It has never been cleaned but does show a mixture of its original Feld Grau finish with rust. Some cleaning may help show its original color, but we felt it is best to never alter an item. The Heer decal is nearly 90% complete with very nice yellow toning to match the rest of the shell. The liner is quite stiff and likely was a battle field pick up which stiffened over the years. The liner is somewhat fragile, and is a little dirty from storage. The inside rim in contrast to the exterior shows a very nice original paint that the outside would have looked like in its prime!
