Original German WWII Named Transitional Heer Helmet
Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWII Heer Transitional helmet with a very nicely named liner! This helmet has a lot of history as originally it was issued to the German army during WWI, and then re-issued to the German Wehrmacht around 1938. As such an early piece, this helmet features a lot of really interesting characteristics.
Noting the helmet liner, this variation is a very rare example with a 1937 date stamped finger. The helmet liner is also incredibly named and unit marked by its original owner. We have not researched this solider – but would make for a great research project. The leather chinstrap is also a very early style which is typically seen on the Weimar Republic helmets. Most notably the chinstrap still retains its original steel extension which has been fixed to the chinstrap lugs. All in all a very solid example which with some rare features!
